Generate Lorem Ipsum placeholder text for mockups, templates and UI tests: 1 to 1000 paragraphs, sentences or words, optionally starting with the classic "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…", as plain text, HTML or Markdown.

Detailed Functionality

Text is assembled from a list of about 160 Latin words. A sentence has 5 to 15 words, starts with a capital letter and ends with a period; a paragraph has 3 to 7 sentences. In words mode you get exactly the number of words you ask for, which is handy for testing truncation and field limits. With the classic option the output begins with the canonical sentence "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua."

Paragraphs are separated by a blank line, which is also valid Markdown. In HTML mode each paragraph can be wrapped in <p>…</p> — the toggle is active only for HTML paragraphs. The output is regenerated on every change, and the word and character counters below it show the size of the result, including any tags.

Generation is plain JavaScript on the page and the text is random each time, so two runs never match. You can copy the result or download it as lorem-ipsum.txt. Nothing is sent to a server.

Practical Examples

Exact word count: Words, count 5, classic start on → lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.

HTML for a template: Paragraphs, count 3, HTML format with <p> wrapping → three <p>…</p> blocks separated by blank lines, ready to paste into a page.

Short UI copy: Sentences, count 2, classic start on → the canonical "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" sentence followed by one random sentence of 5–15 words.

Stress-testing a layout: Paragraphs, count 50 gives several thousand words for checking scrolling and long-content layouts.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Choose the unit

    In Generate by, pick paragraphs, sentences or words, and set Count (1–1000).

  2. Choose the output

    Select the Output format; tick Start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." and, for HTML paragraphs, Wrap paragraphs with

    tags.

  3. Generate and reuse

    The text is regenerated on every change; press Generate for a new random variant, then Copy or Download as TXT.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Counts above 1000 are capped at 1000 and 0 becomes 1, so a typo cannot freeze the page.
  • Each generation is random; if you need identical text across runs, save the result.
  • Lorem Ipsum has short Latin words; to test long words, line breaking or non-Latin scripts, use real copy in the target language.
  • The character counter includes spaces, line breaks and HTML tags — useful for checking maxlength limits.
  • Replace placeholder text before release: search engines and screen readers treat it as real content.
